Earthouse Building Conservation Ltd – Current Vacancies (April 2018)

We have the following vacancies as detailed below: Skilled lime renderer/plasterer and Labourers to work on various projects over the upcoming months.

Earthouse Building Conservation Ltd specialises in the conservation of historic buildings, using traditional and contemporary building techniques and materials. We mainly work on cob and/or stone properties. We work on a range of projects, including commercial and private jobs.

We are a small team working predominantly in the East Devon area, although we also do work in South and North Devon and West Somerset. We are currently involved in a project in Chepstow.

Earthouse Building Conservation Ltd is looking for a highly skilled tradesperson and labourers to join the team. This could be on a self employed or employed basis.

We provide on the job training by experienced tradespeople. We are looking for people who are enthusiastic about building conservation; this is our priority and we work to a high standard.

Skilled Lime renderer/plasterer

We are looking for a skilled tradesperson to work on a variety of projects over the coming months. The ideal person would be highly skilled and experienced in the following:

  • Lime rendering (essential)
  • Lime plastering (essential)
  • Structural repairs using cob blocks (advantageous)
  • Structural repairs using stone (advantageous)
  • A passion for working in building conservation and a willingness to learn and progress (essential)
  • Knowledge of site health & safety (essential)

The successful appointee will be able to work well in a small team and will be confident supervising a site under the direction of the Director. Day to day contact with customers is expected, therefore the person in this role must be able to confidently communicate verbally and with sensitivity. You will also be expected to report back to the Director daily if they are not on the same site.

A driving licence and personal transportation is essential for this role as the majority of our sites are remote and tend not to be on public transport routes. There will also be some transporting of equipment and materials required.

Health & Safety and trade related qualifications are desirable. The appointee will be required to have knowledge of personal and site health and safety.

The person appointed to this role will be expected to uphold and promote Earthouse Building Conservation Ltd’s high quality standards and working practises.

Labourers

We are looking for Labourers who can work well in a small team.

Ideally labourers will have some experience of using lime products – lime rendering, lime plastering and lime washing although someone who has labouring experience of modern building techniques may also be considered. One of the main roles will be mixing up lime mixes for plastering and rendering. Experience of working on cob and stone properties would also be advantageous.

Labourers will be expected to be reliable and have the ability to use their initiative. Day to day contact with customers is expected, therefore the person in this role must be able to confidently communicate verbally and with sensitivity.
